PA Invercargill A big forward pack and experienced backline are the main features of the Southland team to play Queensland at Rugby Park, Invercargill, on Sunday. The full-back, Jeff Gardiner, returns to the team after suffering a crippling achilles tendon injury late last season. He replaces Graeme Anderson, who played against Otago last Sunday, but was unavailable for the Queensland match
because of a hamstring injury.
The only new cap and only addition to the forward pack is Bruce Lewis, who will play at prop. The team is: Jeff Gardiner. Brian Dickison, Paul Laidlaw, Kelvin Farrington, Selwyn Winter, Brian McKechnie, Chris Hiini, Bruce Robertson, Leicester Rutledge, Murray Howe, Ken Thompson, Ken Stewart (captain), Jim Fortune, Lex Chisholm and Bruce Lewis.
Reserves: Wayne Stewart, Alec Milne, Wayne Boynton. Fergus Dermody, Robin Braithwaite and Ken Patterson.
