Subdivision allowed
A property at the corner of Horotane Valley Road and Butts Valley Road, Heathcote, can be subdivided, the No. 3 division of the Planning Tribunal has decided. The property owners, E. 'M. and N. G. Shields, had appealed to the tribunal after the Heathcote County ■Council declined their application to subdivide the property. The tribunal consists of Judge Skelton (chairman) and Messrs G. W. Ensor, G. J. Broker, and R. A. McLennan. A public road divided the land: resulting in two pieces of land similar in size to many of the existing lots on Horotane Valley Road, the tribunal said.
In its decision it emphasised that the granting of the appeal was not to be taken as indicating that consent for the erection of a. dwelling on Part Lot 18 of the site would follow. Car sales
Selling cars from a site at the south-west corner of the junction of Carmen Road with Chestnut Avenue, Hornby, would not be against the public interest, the tribunal said. I. A. and M. A. Hiatt had sought the right from the Paparua County Council to sell cars to go with their existing permit to sell caravans. .
The council declined their application.
In allowing the appeal, the tribunal said it could see no significant difference in landuse planning terms between selling cars and caravans. House approval S. R. Maling will be allowed to build a house qn land in Worsley’s Road, a rural zone of tlie Heathcote County Council, inspite of a Canterbury United Council appeal against the Heathcote County Council’s granting Mr Maling permission to build. The house will be used in conjunction with forestry, horticultural, and grazing activities being carried out on the property.
