Westport reporter The tug Lyttelton 11, which left Westport on Friday en route for Sydney, is in continuous radio range of the Westport Harbour Office, according to the harbourmaster, Captain R. Gower. The vessel had sailed nearly half-way across the Tasman. Rough seas and gale force winds had reduced
her speed to four knots. The vessel had handled the rough conditions well, recovering from any buffeting; Captain Gower said. The master and crew had asked that their thanks be relayed to all who helped in the vessel’s short stay at Westport, especially waterside and marine workers. The Lyttelton is due at Sydney on May 3.
