‘Irish’ injunction sought
NZPA Dublin An Irishman yesterday started court action aimed at preventing his country’s rugby team from calling itself “Irish” during its controversial tour of South Africa next month. John Lennon, a civil engineer, was given permission in the Dublin High Court to seek an injunction next Mon-
day, preventing the Irish Rugby Football Union from using the words “Ireland” or “Irish” to describe the team. In an affidavit, Mr Lennon claimed that the tour of the white-minority ruled South Africa would promote discord between the Irish people and those of other races.
