New lottery at $5 a ticket

PA Wellington A new $5 Golden Kiwi Lottery called the “Kiwi Cashbox” was announced yesterday by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Highet). The Cashbox lottery,-tick-ets for which will go on sale next Monday, will have a first prize of $200,000, and 19 other prizes of $20,000. There will be a substantial number of $lOOO and $5OO prizes, and 5300 minor prizes.

“This is the first time for many years that a $5 lottery has been offered, other than last year’s special New Zealand Games Lottery, which proved such a great success,” said Mr Highet. “The Cashbox lotteryoffers the chance of a very handsome prize for a modest outlay. It has total prize money of $750,000, of which more than $500,000 will be in major prizes.”

The odds in the Cashbox Lottery are one in 46.
