Courses seen as aid to degrees
PA Wellington. Some Central Institute of Technology diploma courses could be recognised as work toward a university degree, the Director-General of Education, Mr W. L. Renwick, hinted at the week-end. Speaking at a C.I.T. graduation function marking the institute’s 21st year, Mr Renwick said its future would be influenced by factors, apart from Government policy, such as growth in demand for new courses, its
geographical and other advantages, and the possibility of the C.I.T. making co-oper-ative teaching arrangements with universities for some courses. “It is my impression that, as time goes on, the C.I.T. will find itself exploring the possibility of Having its work in some of its established diploma courses recognised by a university as work done toward one of its degrees,” Mr Renwick told the 1200 present, including 260 graduands.
