Ashley Forest open days

Sir,—l too would like to add my voice to those of correspondents in praise of the wellorganised open days at Ashley Forest. Any moves that will encourage more New Zealanders to be tree conscious are very worthwhile. If more local bodies can be persuaded that imaginative and extensive tree-planting would surely add more character to the monotony of our rural townships, it would encourage people to stay a while, instead of just driving through, as is so often the case. This in turn makes a good case for the promotion of tourism, and would also make holidays within New Zealand more appealing for ourselves.—Yours, etc.,

(Mrs) D. G. HEARD. Oxford. March 26, 1981.
