Dispute unresolved at Islington
• The - dispute over tradesmen’s claims for dirt money and company-supplied underclothing at the Islington works of Waitaki N.Z. Refrigerating, Ltd, is still not resolved..
The Engineers’ Union referred the dispute to a disputes committee chaired by the industrial mediator, Mr Maurice Teen. The committee met yesterdayBut during the meeting the union withdrew its claims as it is entitled to do
under the Industrial Relations Act.
The secretary of the Canterbury branch of (the Engineers’ Union (Mr R, J. Todd) said that the union withdrew its claims because the dispute was unresolved after “considerable”- discussion.
A report of the discussions will be given to union members at Islington early next week.- Mr Todd said that he did not know il any further action would) be taken;
