Ashburton teams for softball tourney
Two teams from Ashburton are among the entries for the Blake Brothers invitation men’s softball tournament at Papanui Domain this weekend.
Prize money of $275 ($l5O, $75 and $5O) will be contester by five teams in the A section, and another five teams will chase another $75 ($5O and $25) in the B section.
The A section teams are the host club, Papanui. together with Burnside, Western Suburbs, Albion, and Technical (Ashburton). The Evergreens, Wheke, Papanui Aces. Western Suburbs B, and the other Ashburton representative have been placed in the B section. There will be four sessions tomorow and three more on Sunday. The organisers hope that the final games at 1.30 p.m. on Sunday—between Papanui and Burnside (section A) and Evergreens and Ashburton (section B) —will decide first place prize money in each case.
Burnside, which won the tournament last year in the colours of United-City, has, already taken the senior! championship and the cham-' pion-of-champions title this season.
