Greymouth girl killed

A Greymouth girl was killed when the van in which she was a passenger was in an accident with two other vehicles on the Dobson Straight near Greymouth on Wednesday night. She was:
Wendy Joan Hansen, aged 15, of 114 Alexander Street, Greymouth.
The driver of the van. Russell Elston, aged 19, of Runanga, suffered a broken left leg in the accident. He was reported to be in a stable condition in the Grey Hospital yesterday.
The van struck an articulated truck parked on the side of the State Highway. Immediately after the impact the van and an oncoming station waggon collided.
No-one in the truck dr the waggon was injured. The “jaws of life” equipment had to be used to free ’the two occupants of the van.
