Noon Forecast

General forecast: Showers should persist in most western districts, with winds gradually turning to cooler south-westerlies, but some fine intervals are expected in the west later in the day. A cool showery southerly change spreading along the east of the South Island should have reached the Kaikoura coast by afternoon. District forecasts:

Canterbury: South-westerlies, fresh about the coasts with scattered showers spread-

ing from the south; becoming cool.

Nelson, Marlborough: Winds turning to moderate cooler southwesterlies and becoming fine apart from a few showers.

Buller, Westland: Fresh south - westerlies with showers, the winds moderating in the afternoon and some fine intervals developing.

Outlook: Scattered showers in many districts, but mainly fine in the north and west of the South Island.
