PA N.APIER Peter Bryant, of Hawke’s Bay, was the outstanding player at the Rothmans national intercentre bowls final at Napier over, the week-end. The fine singles player brushed aside top ooposition from Taranaki, Dunedin, and Christchurch to drive the home team to a convincing victory at the Wairere club greens. With Bryant playing superb bowls and maintaining an unbeaten record, Hawke’s Bay cruised to its second New Zealand teams title in four years., . The contribution by the veteran. also immense, with the combination also maintaining a clean record. / *■ Hawke’s Bay (14) beat Christchurch by 4 points, with Dunedin another two back bn 8 and Taranaki trailing the field with only four points. Christchurch was the only unbeaten Four, beating Dunedin and Hawke’s Bay on Saturday and a rearranged Taranaki team yesterday. The Taranaki selector, Ted Power, replaced his skip, Bruce Ballinger, who collapsed on the green on Saturday evening. Ballinger was yesterday in a comfortable, condition in the coronary care unit of the Napier Hospital. >:’■
