Lawyer’s trial adjourned
PA Auckland The trial of an Auckland! lawyer on forgery charges* .was yesterday adjourned in the High Court at Auckland to Monday.‘by when the prosecution hopes to have a wit-; ness from Australia on hand.. John Malcolm Murfitt, aged! 39. faces three charges of forgery. two of uttering forged documents and one of making a false declaration to another solicitor. He has pleaded_not guilty on all counts. the trial is before Mr Justice Thorp, alone. Defence counsel. Mr R. L. MacLaren. said on Wednesday that a defence witness would give evidence that a forged'signature was not executed by Murfitt but by a' former employee of Murfitt’s law firm. Robert William Anderson.
