Big State pay-out
Public servants will get their long-awaited annual general salary rise today with their usual fortnightly pay. For some public servants .in the senior grades it could mean a . pay packet of up to $l3OO today, although most have their pay credited direct to a bank account. The 16.4 per cent in-
crease will be backdated to November TO.The adjustment is. made annually to-State servants’ salaries to keep them in
line with rises in the private sector. The rise is calculated, and the final figure then decided after talks between the Combined State Unions and the State Services Commission.
