Sailing title to Ball

PA Wellington The veteran Flying Dutchman sailor, Andy Ball, of Auckland, finally captured a national title at the week-end, thus fulfilling a six-year ambition. Ball, who has attended the national series for the last six years and who has gone to the world series for the last three years, handled the variable condition* at Plimmerton to

take three wins and one second out of the five-race series. With the only imported hull in the fleet, and the experienced crew of Bob Eastmond, he sailed magnificently in conditions which ranged from a howling northerly to a light southerly. Wellington’s Murray and Brian Jones won the national 470 titles by a convincing 11 points.
