Community ambassador
PA Wellington New Zealand’s next Ambassador to the European Community will be Mr.. John McArthur, t|ie Minister of Foreign Affairs (Mr Talboys) has ann’ouned. Mr- McArthur, ‘ who has been with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1854, will take up the appointment in January succeeding Mr Graham AnselL / : .Mr McArthur, who is 50, was New Zealand’s first Ambassador to Chile and he then served as Ambassador fo : France and to the O.E.C.D. • Mr McArthur will also be accredited to Belgium, Denmark, and Luxemburg. Mr Taiboys said New -Zealand s ambassador in Brussels had the day-to-day responsibility for our relations with the commission —• the executive arm of the Community — and with the European Parliament.
