Graduates off to Australia

PA ; Auckland Abqut 7Q engineering graduates of Auckland University will take up jobs in Australia next year. The dean of the faculty of engineering, Professor R. F. Meyer, said he was concerned that an increasing number of graduates were being lost to overseas countries. “There has always been an outflow of people wanting to get overseas experience,’’ he said. “But, at the moment,. this is more acute because of the strong demand for engineers in Australia.”. Professor Meyer said there was “aggressive” recruitment from these countries last year and even more so this year from Australia. About one-third of the school’s 200 graduates had obtained jobs in Australia. Many were flown there for job interviews.
