Hobart link defended
NZPA-AAP Melbourne Titans Australia Airlines yesterday fended off suggestions" that the new air link between Christchurch and Hobaft would not be a success. The service-is on three months trial for both T.A.A. and Ansett.
The T.A.A. manager for Tasmania, Mr Walter Mariani, said yesterday that the airline was optimistic about the future of the service.
On the first three flights T.A.A, had carried 148 pas-
sengers to Christchurch and 112 to, Hobart excluding guests on the inaugural flights. To the end of February 620 passengers were already booked from Hobart to Christchurch and 677 front Christchurch to Hobart. If this trend in bookings continued the service would be economic. A T.A.A. spokesman said that the service had come in for strong criticism in New Zealand and Tasmania.
