Saturday postal services?
Sir, —Now that the Saturday shopping legislation has been bustled through, and while our ears are still.ringing with the clamour for Saturday services that the Government assured us would brook no denial, may I inquire of the PostmasterGeneral and the Minister of Labour when all the services of the Post Office (postal, telegraph, savings bank, licensing, etc.) are going to be available to us on Saturdays, what hours will be kept, how much these extended hours will increase costs, and what increases in charges are going to be made to recoup these costs?—Yours, etc., JOHN BALNEAVES. November 20, 1980. (The “Postmaster General (Mr Cooper) replies: “The Post Office has not made any plans for Saturday morning opening, apart from those resort areas where it has in the past provided'
limited customer services. Telecommunications, postal receiving services, and Saturday mail deliveries are examples of services continuing beyond the normal 40hour week.”)
