VIVALDI The early 18th-century Italian composer, Antonio Vivaldi, though little over 60 when he died in obscurity in Vienna, wrote so prolifically that he has more than 450 concertos to his credit as well as operas, church music and oratorios. There has been a great revival of interest in Vivaldi’s music in recent years. Ashley Heenan talks about Vivaldi on the Sunday Coni cert programme at 10 a.m., and some of the Vivaldi performances to be heard during the week ahead have been recorded by the New Zealand Schola Musica . under Ashley Heenan’s musical direction.
