Willowbank on first visit to Lyttelton
Lyttelton today welcomes thei arrival of the Bank and Savlll Lina's new container ship Wllow-. bank on her first visit to the port' in, the co-ordinated service between Australia and New Zealand and the Caribbean, Central America, and United States gulf ports. Tliw Wiilowbank, which-visited New Plymouth on her maiden voyage. Is named after the first, ship of the former Bank Line ; That line, and the Shaw Savlll! Line merged in 1878 to form the ■ Bank and Savill Line which, along with the Shipping Corppr-; ation of New Zealand and Colum- ' bus Line, inaugurated the new i service earlier this year. The Willowbank is a sister ship to the Dunedin, grossing, 18,140 tons, which last visited Lyttelton ■on November 12. She arrives at Lyttelton direct from Melbourne and will depart for New Plymouth from where she will said to Central America, the isl-ands of the Caribbean, and , the United States gulf, scheduled to arrive at New Orleans on January 13. The occasion of the Willowbank’s first visit to Lyttelton will be marked by an on-board presentation by representatives of the Lyttelton Harbour Board. AAlso in the co-ordinated service are the New Zealand Caribbean, the Columbus Canterbury, the Columbus Louisiana, and the Dunedin.
