PA Wellington Members stood in silence in honour of the late Mr Arthur’ Ernest Armstrong, member of Parliament for Napier from 1943 until 1951, when Parliament sat yesterday afternoon.

Mrs Ann Hercus (Lab., Lyttelton) gave notice of her intention to introduce the Water and Soil Conservation Amendment Bill, a private member’s measure.
The Tobacco Growing Industry Amendment Bill was referred back from the Commerce and Energy Select Committee with a recommendation to proceed. The Opposition failed in a bid to have it referred back to the committee.. •
