Drug haul
Heroin, with a street value of $7O million, has been seized from a furniture shipment from Palermo, Italy, by United States Drug Enforcement Administration agents posing as truck drivers. The 26 kilo cache was the largest haul of smuggled heroin in New York since 1975 when 75 kilos was found, also in a shipment of furniture. The heroin, which came from the area around Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran, was of a type now flooding western Europe. — New York.
