Award for McEwan
Paul McEwan, Canterbury’s most recent national representative, has been named as the Canterbury Cricket Supporters Club “player of the year” for the 1979-80 season. The award was announced at yesterday’s annual’general meeting of the club. Last summer, McEwan scored 551 runs in the Shell Trophy competition, making him the
highest scorer for the series. He also made his New Zealand debut, against the West Indies. The previous winners of the award, which was first presented in 1965 are Barry Hadlee (four times), Brian Hastings (three), Dick Motz (two), Graham Dowling, John Ward, Peter Coman, Ken Wadsworth, Maurice Ryan and Stephen Boock.
