Riccarton trip for Cambridge pair
Special correspondent Cambridge The Cambridge trainers, Jack and John Winder, plan a trip to Riccarton for Airmond and Sir Avon. Airmond’s next mission is the $35,000 Rotorua Cup over 2200 M on November 1, with his usual rider, K. E. Reggett having the mount. He will then be prepared for the $40,000 New Zealand Cup two weeks later with consideration also being given to a start in the Benson and Hedges Handicap at Riccarton a week earlier. Airmond .has been versatile this winter. He won the Grand National Hurdles in Melbourne and also won on
me uat uh Since returning he won the Whakatane Cup at Tauranga. He has freshened well since then and Jack Winder is thoroughly satisfied with his progress. Sir Avon has trained on well since running third in the Great Northern Guineas at Ellerslie recently. He is a probable candidate for the P. and M. Plaza Purse over 1300 m at Te Rapa next Monday. Then he will be prepared for the New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas over 1600 m at Riccarton on November 8. Sir Avon invariably runs on well in his races so the roomy Riccartont course should suit him.
