Taiko extinct?
More-than two months of searching on the Chatham Islands has failed to find any trace of the magenta petrel, or taiko, one of the world’s rarest birds, according to a Masterton amateur ornithologist, Mr Colin Scadden. Only, five birds have been. sighted in the last 10 years, and the species many now be extinct. — (P.A.)
