Women’s games exciting
After rain had delayed the start of senior women’s cricket matches on: Saturday, some good declarations set the scene for exciting finishes in both matches. Sydenham declared 58 behind the first innings total of St Albans. The St-Albans openers, Ann McKenna and Vicki McGregor, quickly compiled 67 before its second innings was declared without loss. Sydenham '■ was struggling to survive and was 38 for seven at stumps. Riccarton declared 73 runs behind Lancaster Park’s first innings of 155 for seven declared. Park added 13 runs in Its second innings before declaring, leaving Riccarton to chase 87. Riccarton batted well and, aided by some loose bowling and fielding, was 65 for four at the end. 'Nick! Sherriff top scored for Riccarton with 21 and Bonny Panlora was the best of the Park bowlers, taking three for 21.
Scores were:— Senior St Albans 106 and 67/0 dec! (A. McKenna 25 n. 0., V. Burtt 40 n. 0.) drew with Sydenham 50/5: decl (N. Williams 19 n. 0.; K. Gll-i ray 3/4) and 38/7 (N. Turner 13; K. Hadlee 2/20). I Lancaster Park 155/7 and 13/1 drew with Riccarton. 82/5 decl (S.; Rattray 24, S. Harris 31; S. Gardyne 2/18) and 65/4 (N. Sherriff 21, D. Avery 10, M. Clinton 14 n. 0.; B. Panlora 3/21). Senior B Burnside-West University 146/7 and 50/4 deci (L. Patterson 15 n. 0.: K. Marsh 2/12) beat Lancaster Park 58 and 69 (D. Brown 13, S. Claxton 23; L. Wilson 4/21, C. Keenan 2/13). Sydenham 98/7 decl and 90/4 (D. Shanks 28 n. 0., G. Young 20, G. Shanks 14; J. Mcßobie 2/18), drew with St Albans 81/7 (Mcßobie 13) and 50/1 (K. Baker 26 n. 0.). Second and third grade matches were cancelled.
