Shipping News Nedlloyd ships no strangers to port

I While the vessels of seme ship-’ I ping iines appear to make some-w-hat .sporadic visits to Lyttelton, the Nedlloyd Lines’ ships seem to arrive in a never-ending procession. For instance, both the Nedlloyd Madison and the Nedlloyd Freetown arrived in port last month within two days of each other. This month has alreadyseen a visit bv the N'edlloyd Main on October 1, and three more vessels are due in the next fortnight — the Nedlloyd Franklin, the NedUoyd Frazer, and the N'edlloyd Main. Three vessels, the N'edlloyd Madison, the N'edlloyd Amsterdam, and the N'edlloyd Fremantle, will visit Lyttelton next month. In ail. nine N'edlloyd ships are regular callers at New Zealand ports, und several others call occasionally, providing four important services for New Zealand exports. The South-East Asia service to Indonesia, Singapore. Malaysia, and Thailand is provided by the N'edlloyd Adelaide, Nedlloyd Amsterdam, N'edlloyd Albany, and Nedl’oyd Main. Until recently the Nedllovd Waalekerk also served the trade. She will be replaced late- this year by the Nedlloyd Auckland. The Nedlloyd Franklin and the Nedlloyd Freetown serve part of the New Zealand Unit Express service to the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Taiwan — a service run in association with China Navlgation Company and Mitsui O.SJi.
