Helicopters help at fire
Helicopters with monsoon buckets were called in to help control a fire in a plantation near Rolleston yesterday. The fire broke out about midday near Dunns Crossing, just east of the Main South Road between Burnham and Rolleston.
By the time it was stopped more than an hour later, the blaze had des-
troyed an area of plantation about 300 m long and 200 m wide.
Two Army helicopters made several runs with monsoon buckets to dump water on the blaze, which was attended by fire engines from the Bumham, Rolleston, and Lincoln volunteer fire brigades. The cause of the fire is not known.
