'M.J.B.' on mend
NZPA Melbourne My Brown Jug received a cut to the near hind leg in the Feehan Stakes last Saturday but will still run in the weight-for-age $30,000 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield tomorrow. His trainer, Peter Jones, said yesterday it was the first time My Brown Jug had been cut in a race. Jones said the cut had responded quickly to treatment.
Brava Jeannie, winner of the Oaks Stakes, is forcing her way into Caulfield Cup calculations and she will be running in the Underwood Stakes. But trainer Geoff Murphy’s other mare, Pigalle, will not run in the Underwood Stakes.
She has been plagued with leg trouble and could only stride on the sand at Caulfield yesterday.
