Forest policy
Sir, —- After being subjected to Forest Service propaganda about the “dying” forests of Whirinaki, -we now have a new D.S.I.R. report undermining that propaganda (September 20). This report is just part of recent scientific work which emphasises the naturresilience of podocarp forests. Meanwhile, the Forest Service continues to base its management on outmoded theories from the 19505. They ignore the advice and current research of their, forest ecologists (Beveridge, Herbert and Nicholls). — Yours, etc., S. R. JUNE, September 21, 1980.
