Gold leaps to $705
NZPA-Reuter Hong Kong The international gold price rose sharply on the Hong Kong market yesterday after news of continuing ground and air battles along the Iranian-Iraqui border. The price broke through the SUS7OO psychological barrier on hectic demand, rising to a high of SUS7OS an ounce in early trading from Friday’s SUS6B7 closing rate in New York. The advance was partly attributed to news of a possible Soviet troop build-up near Poland and reports that Algeria was joining Iran, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates to cut oil output by 10 per cent, the dealers said.
