Experiment goes astray
PA Tauranga A Paengaroa youth is in Tauranga Hospital with a severely injured foot, after a backyard chemical experiment went astray on Sunday afternoon. It is thought that the youth, aged 19, with two younger boys, was experimenting with orchard chemicals. After creating a Roman candle firework effect with some of the mixture they packed it into a pipe and ignited it. In the subsequent explosion the eldest of the three suffered severe injuries to his right foot. He was taken to hospital by ambulance. The' other two youths were not hurt.
