400 at St John open day
Four hundred people visited the St John Ambulance Association’s headquarters in Christchurch yesterday at an open day to coincide with the annual family appeal subscription. Donations and bequests are failing to match the association’s running costs and the open day was held to increase interest' in St John work and to boost the annual appeal. All aspects of the association’s service were on display with a mock accident victim and specially equipped ambulances open for inspection. The open day was designed both to entertain and to educate, full explanations of the association’s equipment and functions being given.
