Tocker wins fencing
Alan Tocker made an impressive return to competitive fencing at the Canterbury provincial championships at the week-end. Tocker made his return after three years absence and won the Master-at-Arms title and trophy for the best performed fencer at the championships. Both the foil and sabre titles fell to Tocker and he was second in the epee. David Eccleston was second in the sabre and third in the foil and was the only other
fencer to fill two places. Chris Nokes won the epee title preventing a clean sweep by Tocker. The only women’s title, the fqil, was won by the top seed, Jane Lindsay. Results. —
