Horse-riding on roads
Sir, — Regarding P. Densem’s letter about ’ cars frightening horses, (August 27) I would like to point to the lack of courtesy of many of . the young horse l riders in ,my area whom we: often see riding two to three abreast and ignoring simple road safety rules. About a month ago I was driving down Cavendish Road when a girl rider on a white horse rode out from Barnes Road, Showing a bit of "courtesy” I slowed down, but to my horror the girl did not look to see if the way was clear and just carried on riding across Cavendish Road, forc- ■ ing me to brake to a stop.. The girl showed no concern about the danger she put herself or anyone else in. I would like to urge horse riders to show a lot more consideration so drivers , would become more patient and roads become safer for everyone. — Yours, etc., M. RALFE. August 30, 1980.
