Fans Walled out
East German rock fans gathered behind police barriers in East Berlin to. listen to an open air concert taking place on the other side of the Berlin Wall in. the West. Security forces blocked off all roads around the Wall in the centre of the city, including part of East Berlin’s main, street,, the Unter .den' Linden, and detained around 40/people who refused to move behind the barriers. In the evening more than 400 youngsters assembled, -but most went away again after they found they.were too.far from : the border to hear the /music. The concert, starring .the British : : band Barclay James Harvest;- was the-big-gest- open-air pop . festival ever staged in West Berlin and more. / than 100,000 'people. -- East Berlin... : .. ■/'■ ■■ ■■
