Albacore catch up
Parliamentary reporter Landings of, albacore, in the 1,979-80 seaspri totalled 1468 tonnes, more thari the 814; tonnes in 1978-79 but less than the 1977-78 record of 1639 tonnes. As in previous years, the Westland fishery provided nearly all the' catch: 1392 tonnes off Greymouth, 41 tonnes off Whakatane - Gisborne - pier, and 35 tonnes off New Plymouth. ? There were 210 trolling vessels in the fishery (28 more than the previous season), but only 47 worked full-time and a,ll of those worked. out of Greymouth. ‘
