13 p.c. rise for dairy workers

PA ' Wellington Dairy' factory workers will get a 13.7 per cent wage rise. 5. Negotiations for . the award, which covers about 6000 workers, ended last evening in Wellington. . The secretary of the Dairy Workers’ Union (Mr R. McMillan) said the union had been guided by “certain advice” from the Federation of Labour. But he said there had been no real pressure as a result of the dairy workers’ position at the head of the 198081 wage queue. . Mr McMillan said he felt the ability to pay argument was still valid.
