League suspension until July, 1981

A Papanui rugby league player, John Hines, has been suspended until midway through the 1981 season, the stand-down period to begin immediately. At a meeting of the Canterbury Rugby League board of control last evening Hines was found guilty of having Jostled a referee (Mr Trevor Brott) during a senior second division match on July 12. Hines was also accused of having threatened Mr Brott in a public place, some weeks after the original incident.
