Inangahua suing the Govt
Greymouth reporter' A writ has been served on the Attorney-General (Mr McLay) on behalf of the Forest Service by the Inangahua County Council, which claims that it has not been paid “fifths and tenths” royalties on timber cut since 1974. The royalties, payable to local authorities for roading, apply only to timber cut in indigenous forests. The writ was filed in the High Court at Greymouth last week, but it is unlikely to be heard until early next year.
