Children missing in bush
PA ■ Auckland The police were searching bush near Warkworth , late last evening for two young children missing on a hike with their parents. They are a girl, aged nine, and her brother, aged four, They were wearing only light clothing. The police said the two ran on ahead while on the bush walk in the Dome Valley, and when their parents reached the end of the hike the children were not waiting for them. The parents called to the children, and received a reply further down the valley, about 3.30 p.m. The parents apparently could not reach their children because they were separated by a river. By .late afternoon thepolice were called in to help, and voice contact was still being maintained with the children. But in mid-evening voice contact was lost.
Late last evening 12 policemen and local volunteers were searching the area.
