New Zealand dominated the Jineouts and ‘ broken play, with Steven- Burkuart and Marceli Atualiiua outstanding. ! Queensland took an early lead with , two penalty goals by Rod Wilton, but New Zealand’s first five-eighths,, Phillipe Rutene, was able to create space around the rucks, and he put the full-back, Mark Benton, over for the
first try of the match after only lOmin. . The prop, Peter Henderson, crossed soon after, as he pounced on a cross . kick by . Mick Lynagh, and this was followed by a try from Atuahiua, to give New’Zealand a commanding, 14-6, lead at half-time. The second half was a one-sided affair with New Zealand’s bigger and faster players untroubled to pile on another 15 points.
