General forecast: ■ A front over the Tasman Sea is expected to lie through Cook Strait by midday bringing rain to western 'districts of the North Island. A westerly flow following fche front is- expected to bring showers to the West iCoast. The weather should •be mainly fine in the east of both islands and cloudy with !a few showers in the north tof ’the North Island. Strong north-westerly winds ahead of .the front should moderate as it moves eastwards.
