Three killed in two accidents
Three men. died in motor accidents in Canterbury and Westland on Saturday evening. Two Ashburton men were killed when the car in which they were travelling and another car collided on the Main South Road near Weedons soon after 9.30 p.m. They were Rodney The mas Wood, aged 25, of Chalmers Avenue, Ashburton, and Kerry Peter Moore, also aged 25, of Walnut Avenue, Ashburton.
Two passengers were in their car. Helen Behrns, aged 21, of Albert Street, Ashburton, suffered minor lacerations and was kept in hospital overnight for observa-
tion. . . Deborah Katherine O’Donnell, aged 21, of Chalmers Avenue, suffered bruising and shock. No-one in the other car was injured, according to the Christchurch police. The other death occurred in an accident on State highway 6, several miles south of Hokitika. The dead man was
John Holleran, aged 28, a sawmill hand, from South Westland.
The Hokitika police believe that the car-Mr Holleran was driving hit a bank and rolled over. Another motorist found him trapped underneath the vehicle about 6.30 p.m. He was alone .in the car.
