enabled Western to beat New Brighton, 2-0. Wayne Newsome and Ray Wild scored the goals. Earlier Wild had missed a penalty but, at the other end, the
Western goal-keeper, Eric Eicholtz, made three good saves to keep Brighton scoreless before half-time.
: Cashmere-Wanderers ended its Hertz League programme with a 3-0 win over Northern Hearts in Timaru. Graham Ford scored twice, and Alan Smith added a penalty. Western won the premier grade knockout final, beating Rangers, 2-1. Lower grade matches played on Saturday resulted.
