Taxi-driver robbed at Nelson
Nelson reporter A woman taxi-driver was robbed in Nelson on Saturday night and a young man will appear in the District Court today bn charges in connection with the incident.
A man. got into the rear of a taxi driven by Mrs Jacqueline Rees outside the Majestic Theatre at 10.50 p.m. and asked to be driven to Parere, Street.
When the taxi stopped the. man produced a knife, held it about 10cm from the driver’s head and demanded money.
Mrs Rees saw that the man’s face was covered with a balaclava. She handed him about $3O and he ran of. When she radioed for help her call was picked up by another taxi-driver who saw a man a short distance away in St Vincent Street.
The police arrived on the scene soon after and arrested a man. He offered no resistance.
