Tours to N.Z.
Sir, — Congratulations to Mount Cook for trying to get into Australian tours. I . suggest to tourist companies, prompted by moans from Australian friends that on tours to New Zealand, they hardly saw Christchurch: ■ ■ Short tours to Christchurch staying 8-10 days here, bed-breakfast, with two other trips included: to Akaroa, magnificent views. Hanmer, swim in hot pools, the Gorges, jet boat rides, optional long day visit to Arthur’s Pass, train if possible, Mount Hutt, Timaru area; leisurely visits to our craftsmen in the Arts Centre, Museum, gardens, Orana Park, harbour launch trips, time to shop and visit our Square. We have fine restaurants for eating out, and night entertainment ■at the -Court, Town Hall etc. Such tdurS would bring prosperity to Canterbury. Our hotels and motels would be full, exciting job possibilities, such as restaurant reservation service, minibuses, scenic flights, etc. Tourists would return to visit other areas of our country not included in the traditional run. — Yours, etc., J. HOCKING (Mrs). August 29, 1980.
