Salvation Army appeal
Sir, — Through this, column I would like to thank the people of Christchurch for their cheerful and generous giving to the Salvation Army street appeal last Friday. The $6OOO will be applied specifically to the
maintenance of Salvation Army services throughout the Canterbury/Westland Division. For those who stand 0., the street with a - collection box in hand, such cheerful generosity acts like an injection of confidence in the goodness and kindness of the vast majority of the people. In so many, there is a potent hope and practical prayer for better things for the underprivileged, coupled with a willingness to be involved in giving relief to those in need. —■ Yours,-etc., ERIC G. BRIDLE (Major), Divisional Commander, Salvation Army. . ' August 28, 1986.
