PA Wellington A petition of Mr S. L. Bloxham, of Waiheke Island, and 431 others, praying for air services to Waiheke Island to be exempted from the domestic travel tax was tabled by Mr R. W. Prebble (Lab., Auckland Central) when Parliament sat at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. Mr Prebble also tabled a petition of Mr M. Walker ofWaiheke Island, and 618 others, praying for air services to Waiheke Island, Great Barrier Island, and the islands of the gulf to be exempted from the domestic travel tax. The annual reports of the Porirua District Licensing Trust, the Masterton Licensing Trust and the Post Office were tabled and members presented four notices of motion. The Agriculture Workers Amendment Bill was
introduced and referred to the Labour and Education Select Committee. Ministers answered 24 questions. A petition calling for the repeal of section 66a of the Social Security Act was reported back from the Health and Welfare Select Committee -with the recommendation that 1 it be referred to the Government s for consideration, and also referred to the International Year of the Disabled; Committee > when it meets'next year. The- Fishing Vessel Ownership Savings Amendment Bill was further considered in committee until the debate was ajoumed at 5.30 p.m. Later the bill was passed through its committee stages. Debate on the. committee stages of the Farm Ownership Savings Amendment Bill was interrupted by the 10.30 p.m. adjournment.
